Key Responsibilities
Concept & Collaboration: Work with directors scenographers or architects to create a cohesive lighting concept that supports the overall vision.
Design & Documentation: Create detailed "light plots" (CAD drawings) showing fixture placement instrument schedules and cue lists.
Technical Planning: Select appropriate lighting tools (fixtures gels dimmers) calculate power requirements and manage equipment rentals and budgets.
Installation & Programming: Oversee the installation (hanging/focusing) of lights and program lighting consoles for cues.
Rehearsals & Maintenance: Attend rehearsals to adjust lighting; ensure all equipment is safe and fully functional.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with lighting design software (e.g. Vectorworks AutoCAD) and console programming (e.g. ETC EOS family).
Artistic Vision: Strong understanding of color intensity and focus to create atmosphere and highlight performers or architectural features.
Communication: Ability to articulate design ideas and work collaboratively with a production team.
Project Management: Experience managing tight deadlines budgets and safety regulations.
Background: Typically requires a degree in theater lighting design or related experience.
