SALARY: Grid 9 / $42.65 - $52.95 hourly
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Care this position works without general supervision and provides physiotherapy services to enable residents to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Training and Experience
Masters Degree in Physiotherapy plus at least three (3) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Current registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC).
Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
Skills and Abilities
Broad knowledge of physiotherapy theory and practice within a resident and family centred model of care.
Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in resident care.
Knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated program/area.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
Demonstrated ability to conduct relevant assessments per established standards of practice.
Demonstrated ability to independently plan organize and prioritize workload.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to teach and empower residents to assume control over their health.
Demonstrated ability to plan deliver and evaluate health education for individuals and groups.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with residents caregivers/families and community partners.
Demonstrated computer knowledge in relevant software applications.
Working knowledge of research process and methodology.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
DUTIES
Plans and provides physiotherapy assessment treatment and education for residents in accordance with physicians specific order and referrals.
Develops and maintains work schedule through individual or group treatment sessions in cooperation with other disciplines as necessary. Maintains comprehensive treatment and progress records.
Maintains the standards associated with the safety of residents receiving physiotherapy treatment including awareness of the contra-indications to specific forms of treatment the potential hazards involved in various procedures used and the precautions which must be employed and taught to the resident.
Educates residents relevant family or care providers on an individual basis or in groups.
Attends and contributes to medical rounds conferences lectures and meetings as appropriate. Exchanges patient information with colleagues and members of care team through care plans direct or written communication and/or family conferences. Participates in discharge planning.
Coordinates therapeutic activities providing clinical direction and input into the performance evaluations of assigned support staff.
Ensures equipment is safe and in good working order.
As assigned participates in various committees/programs and participates in and contributes to staff education.
Assists in development implementation and evaluation of department policies and programs and maintains statistical records on related activities.
Contributes to the Quality Improvement Program by assisting with the development of standards audits and program evaluation as assigned.
Keeps current in new techniques and technology related to resident care and maintains and upgrades clinical skills through attendance at approved courses seminars etc.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
