Senior Software Engineer, Extensibility (Sand Table)

The Sand Table team at Anduril develops our revolutionary platform for visualizing future defense scenarios. We transform massive amounts of data into an intuitive interactive 3D command center serving as the visual interface for mission simulations a key business development tool and a powerful demonstration of our advanced capabilities to government and military leaders. We take ambitious ideas from concept to completion building the core with high-performance C and enabling rapid feature expansion through modern scripting and plugin frameworks. The Sand Table team manages the complex logistics for delivering flawless augmented reality demonstrations in headset to critical stakeholders. As a cross-functional group of builders strategists and operators we combine the creative energy of a top game studio with the rigorous discipline of national security to shape how the future of defense is visualized and understood.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Carbon Extensibility Engineer you will be the expert practitioner of our internal extensibility framework. You will spearhead the development of the primary Sand Table plugin effectively building a powerful modding capability for our mission-critical simulation software.

WHAT YOULL DO

• Architect and develop the core Sand Table plugin using our Carbon extensibility framework leveraging your expertise in both low-level C and high-level TypeScript
• Partner closely with artists designers and systems engineers to extend Sand Tables capabilities integrating new data sources user interactions and visual features
• Become the subject matter expert on the Carbon extensibility layer providing guidance and creating robust APIs that empower other teams to build upon your work
• Dive deep into the engines C foundation to understand its architecture identify extension points and ensure your plugin code is performant and stable
• Write clean high-performance and maintainable code that seamlessly blends the power of a real-time engine with the flexibility of a modern scripting environment
• Diagnose and solve complex technical challenges at the intersection of the core engine scripting layer and artistic workflows

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional experience in game engine development or a related field involving real-time 3D simulation
• Strong proficiency in C and experience working in large performance-critical codebases
• Solid experience with TypeScript for scripting tooling or application development
• A proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including artists and engineers from other disciplines
• Ability to write clean maintainable and extensible code with an eye for creating robust APIs
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively on ambiguous open-ended technical tasks
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Direct experience creating or working with modding communities and toolkits for games
• Experience with API design and SDK development
• Familiarity with 3D math and real-time rendering concepts
• Experience shipping a AAA game title

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience education and/or training critical skills and/or business considerations.
