The College Coach acts as a dedicated mentor and strategic architect for students navigating the high school journey and the college admissions landscape. This role is focused on delivering high-touch empathetic coaching to a personalized roster ensuring every student has a clear individualized roadmap to success. You are a subject matter expert and a core member of our practitioner-led team responsible for translating complex institutional knowledge into actionable guidance. Your mission is to provide a student-centered experience that balances academic ambition with social-emotional well-being serving as a calm and authoritative presence for families throughout the admissions cycle.

Location: Hybrid: Preferred (Austin TX area)
Hours: Part-time: Meeting hours with families are flexible (primarily weekday afternoons/evenings and Sundays) to accommodate Central and Pacific time zones.

Duties/Expectations

Lead a personalized roster of 10 students per cycle providing comprehensive mentorship through all phases of the college search and application process.
Manage the technical lifecycle of college applications ensuring students meet all milestones for the Common App University of Texas (ApplyTexas) portal and the University of California application.
Architect well-rounded college lists and extracurricular strategies that balance academic ambition with the students social-emotional well-being.
Orchestrate the strategic arc of college essays and personal statements to ensure alignment with the students overall application narrative acting as a high-level conductor who defines the scope while overseeing the 1-1 progress of assigned Essay Coaches.
Collaborate in regular Case Study sessions and peer-review circles sharing institutional knowledge and providing feedback to colleagues to ensure high standards of care across the team.
Maintain proactive and detailed communication with families serving as the primary point of contact and managing expectations through the stress points of the admissions cycle.

Requirements

Education: Bachelors degree required; Advanced degree in counseling or education preferred.
Experience: 3 years of direct experience in college consulting admissions or high school counseling with a proven track record of student success.
Regional Institutional Expertise: Direct professional experience within the Texas educational ecosystem is required specifically having served in a leadership or counseling capacity within a Texas-wide High School or an Admissions/Student Affairs role within the University of Texas (UT) system.
Subject Matter Expertise: Deep familiarity with the Texas educational landscapes including first-hand experience with the UT and UC application systems.
Admissions Fluency: Expert-level understanding of the modern US College Admissions landscape (testing trends essay prompts and specialized application platforms).
Availability: Ability to work flexible after-school hours (afternoons early evenings and Sundays) to accommodate families in Central and Pacific time zones.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication; ability to articulate complex admissions data to families in an accessible way.
Technical Tool Belt: Reliability with video conferencing tools CRM platforms and digital collaboration suites (e.g. Google Workspace Notion).

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: $75$100/hr for student-facing work; additional hourly rate for training team meetings and administrative functions.
