This position is based near Columbia Maryland with alternative duty locations in San Diego California Englewood Colorado or Huntsville Alabama. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Job Summary

Leidos is seeking a Mid-Level Test Engineer to join a high-impact multi-agency program serving the United States Space Force (USSF) / Space Systems Command (SSC) the United States Air Force (USAF) and other critical mission stakeholders. The selected individual will play key role in enhancing testing and deploying a large-scale Satellite Communications (SATCOM) system to an existing infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in public key infrastructure (PKI) and key management excels at complex problem solving and has a strong record of delivering results as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced Agile Development environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to enhance the resilience and cybersecurity of mission-critical communications that protect our nation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual component integration system and end-to-end testing of software applications.

  • Develop write and execute system-level and integration-level test procedures and test reports.

  • Evaluate software changes and verify defect corrective actions identified during development testing and operational use.

  • Utilize basic system administration skills and work with physical equipment in a test lab environment.

  • Develop test data define test acceptance criteria and create test methodologies for subsystem interfaces and software modules.

  • Understand all software components and their interface requirements to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

  • Review and contribute to test plans and test procedure documentation as part of a broader test organization.

  • Collaborate closely with Manual Test Automation and framework/infrastructure teams to support regression and system testing.

  • Support software configuration management processes related to test artifacts and environments.

  • Work collaboratively with Software Development Systems Engineering Integration Deployment and Sustainment teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field and at least 8 years of related experience. Additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree.

  • Must have experience testing through a full system development life cycle including implementing test plans test cases and test processes.

  • Must have experience participating in formal test events (Acceptance Test User Acceptance Test Software Final Release Test Maintenance Release Test etc.).

  • Must have experience collaborating with software developers to create formal test procedures.

  • Must have experience working with physical equipment in a test lab environment.

  • Must have experience collecting analyzing presenting test results verbally and reporting test results in writing.

  • Must have experience utilizing elevated privileges to set up and execute manual test procedures.

  • Must have experience documenting test results for corrective actions reporting and audits.

  • Must have experience testing systems from existing system and functional specifications.

  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to successfully communicate with both management and technical personnel.


Clearance Required: Must have TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with or in military Satellite Communications (SATCOM) organizations such as United States Air Force (USAF) United States Space Force (USSF) or another Agency.

  • Experience working with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)/ key management programs and technologies.

  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).

  • Experience using automated test tools.

  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (i.e. Java shell Python etc).

  • SAFe Agilist or DevOps certification.

  • Experience working in an Agile Development Environment or on an Agile Team.
