Job Summary

The Senior Director Global Responsible Sourcing & Supply Chain Sustainability serves as a senior leader and subject matter authority on human rights and environmental risk across the global supply chain. Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer this role is accountable for the design and execution of human rights and environmental due diligence frameworks including the identification escalation and remediation of complex risks.

This leader plays a critical role in protecting workers ecosystems and enterprise reputation by ensuring that high-risk issues are surfaced early addressed with rigor and resolved in alignment with company values and evolving regulatory expectations.

  • Critical human rights and environmental risks are identified escalated and remediated with urgency and rigor

  • Effective global human rights and environmental due diligence frameworks are implemented and continuously strengthened

  • Regulatory readiness across global human rights and environmental requirements with defensible and audit-ready processes

  • Consistent enforcement of responsible sourcing standards across all sourcing regions and supplier tiers

  • High-performing engaged global team with deep subject matter expertise

  • Strong supplier accountability including measurable improvement in compliance and risk reduction

  • Budget adherence and operational effectiveness

Key Responsibilities

1. Human Rights & Environmental Risk Leadership (35%)*

  • Lead global human rights and environmental risk management across the supply chain. Own the design and execution of due diligence frameworks including human rights impact assessments (HRIAs) environmental risk identification and supplier risk segmentation.

  • Oversee the investigation escalation and resolution of complex and high-risk issues including labor rights violations forced labor and environmental harm. Exercise independent judgment in determining when issues require escalation to senior leadership.

2. Accountability & Operational Integration (20%)*

  • Ensure responsible sourcing standards are embedded and enforced across sourcing product development and supply chain operations. Establish clear accountability mechanisms and partner with cross-functional leaders to drive adherence to human rights and environmental requirements.

3. Strategy & Emerging Risk Management (15%)*

  • Anticipate emerging human rights and environmental risks across global supply chains and translate evolving regulatory expectations into actionable operating models. Continuously refine program strategy to address new and complex risk environments.

4. External Engagement & Issue Management (10%)

  • Engage with NGOs trade unions industry groups and other external stakeholders on sensitive and high-risk issues. Represent the company in complex external situations including investigations allegations and disputes.

5. Team Leadership & Development (15%)*

  • Lead coach and develop a global team of responsible sourcing professionals. Build deep subject matter expertise within the team and foster a culture of accountability rigor and continuous improvement.

6. Disclosures Reporting & Governance (5%)

  • Ensure accurate defensible and audit-ready disclosures related to human rights and environmental performance. Maintain integrity of data and reporting processes in alignment with regulatory and internal standards.

  • Ownership of supplier code of conduct technical standards and governance frameworks

About You

Minimum Education Required

  • Bachelors degree in Sustainability Environmental Science Human Rights Law Supply Chain Business or a related field. Masters degree preferred.

Years and Type of Experience Required

  • 20 years of experience in global responsible sourcing human rights environmental risk or supply chain sustainability

  • Recognized expertise in human rights due diligence labor rights and/or environmental risk within complex global supply chains

  • Experience operating in high-risk geographies and managing complex multi-tier supplier environments

  • Track record handling sensitive investigations escalations and remediation of high-risk issues

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

  • Deep knowledge of human rights frameworks labor standards and environmental risk management

  • Strong ethical judgment and willingness to challenge business decisions when necessary

  • Experience managing high-risk issues investigations and escalations

  • Credibility engaging with external stakeholders including NGOs regulators and labor organizations

  • Ability to operate independently in complex ambiguous and high-pressure situations

  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills across a global matrixed organization

  • Data-driven mindset with systems orientation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel internationally

Complexity and Accountability

  • This role operates with a high degree of independence and accountability for global human rights and environmental risk. Responsible for ensuring risks are proactively identified escalated and addressed balancing business priorities with ethical regulatory and reputational considerations.

  • Operates within a complex global organization with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities requiring sound judgment and the ability to navigate ambiguity.

Additional Information

This is a critical leadership role responsible for safeguarding human rights and environmental outcomes across the companys global supply chain.

This is a hybrid position based in our San Francisco CA headquarters. You will be expected in office 3 days per week typically Tuesday-Thursday. Note time in office can vary depending on business needs.

The expected starting salary range for this role is $204000-$300300 per year.We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on the location of the role. The amount a particular employee will earn within the salary range will be based on factors such as relevant education qualifications performance and business needs.
