Job Summary
Position Overview
SwiftAid Transport is seeking reliable compassionate and professional drivers to provide safe timely and respectful non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) services.
This role is not a typical driving job. Drivers are responsible for assisting passengers who may be elderly disabled or medically vulnerable. The ideal candidate understands the importance of punctuality patience and professionalism in every interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Safely transport passengers to and from medical appointments facilities and residences
Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle including wheelchair securement
Operate wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAV) safely and correctly
Maintain strict adherence to scheduled pickup and drop-off times
Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding trip status delays or issues
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the vehicle at all times
Provide courteous respectful and compassionate service to all passengers
Prior experience in Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
Experience assisting elderly or disabled individuals
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and/or First Aid certification
Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) certification
Wheelchair securement training
Physical Requirements
This position requires:
Ability to lift push and stabilize passengers and mobility equipment
Ability to bend kneel and assist with securement systems
Ability to sit for extended periods while driving
Work Expectations
Candidates must be comfortable with:
Working with passengers who may have physical or cognitive limitations
Maintaining strict punctuality (late arrivals affect patient care)
Following structured procedures and compliance requirements
Handling unexpected delays or schedule changes professionally
Compensation
$22 $25 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Requirements
Minimum Requirements (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
Valid New York State Class E Drivers License
Clean driving record (no serious violations)
Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Ability to safely assist passengers with mobility needs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable transportation to and from work
