Overview
This position ensures precise and accurate treatment plans dosage calculations and dosimetry considerations for patients undergoing radiation therapy. The role provides direct patient care and may be required to access and administer medications within scope of practice according to state law.
Key Responsibilities
Treatment Planning
- Design treatment plans by computer and/or manual computation with optimal beam geometry to deliver prescribed radiation dose and spare critical structures in accordance with Radiation Oncologists prescription
- Identify and contour normal and dose-limiting structures using images from one or more data sets (CT MRI PET)
- Create and transfer reference images and localization markers for portal verification and treatment delivery (DRRs CBCTs other IGRT methods)
Clinical Support
- Supervise perform or assist in simulations and tumor localization using CT MRI and PET
- Supervise perform or assist in fabrication of compensation filters custom shields and beam modifying devices
- Supervise perform or assist in production of molds casts and immobilization devices
Collaboration & Documentation
- Communicate with radiation therapists in an advisory role for treatment plan implementation
- Perform calculations for accurate dose delivery; document all pertinent information in patient record
- Verify mathematical accuracy of all calculations by approved method
Education & Quality
- Teach applied aspects of medical dosimetry to students radiation therapists and staff
- Participate in continuing education
- Participate in quality improvement processes
Requirements
Licenses & Certifications
- Current credential as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) by the American Association of Medical Dosimetry (AAMD)
Experience
- Three (3) years of dosimetry experience or equivalency
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift carry push pull or move objects up to 50 pounds (medical equipment or patients)
- Capable of color determination far/near vision listening manual dexterity sitting speaking standing walking
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job
- Human relations and effective communication skills
- Knowledge of age-specific care and life-span growth and development principles
- Ability to assess patient status and provide care per department policies

Work Schedule & Environment
- Work Schedule: Arranged hours between 7 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday
- Workplace Setting: Hybrid (remote options available)
- Expected Workload: 30-45 plans per month
