WELDER (Arc & Mig)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Welder proficient in both Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/Stick) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG) to join our fabrication this role you will be responsible for interpreting blueprints preparing materials and executing high-quality welds on various metal components.
The ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail a strong mechanical aptitude and a commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.
Key Responsibilities
Welding Operations: Perform professional-grade welding using MIG and Arc techniques on carbon steel stainless steel and aluminum.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and weld symbols to determine project specifications and material requirements.
Material Preparation: Cut grind and clean metal surfaces using power tools (angle grinders plasma cutters) to ensure proper weld penetration and finish.
Fit-up & Assembly: Align and secure parts using clamps jigs and fixtures prior to welding to maintain dimensional accuracy.
Quality Control: Inspect finished welds for defects such as porosity undercut or cracks; perform repairs as necessary to meet industry standards (e.g. AWS).
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on welding machines torches and gas regulators to ensure peak performance and safety.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
Experience: Proven experience as a Welder with specific expertise in MIG and Arc processes.
Certification: High school diploma or equivalent; AWS (American Welding Society) certification or completion of a vocational welding program is highly preferred.
Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of metal properties electrode/wire selection and shielding gas configurations.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs work in varied environments (heat/tight spaces) and stand for extended periods.
Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to PPE requirements (welding helmets gloves fire-resistant clothing) and shop safety protocols.
Performance Competencies
Precision: Maintaining tight tolerances and clean beads in high-visibility or structural areas.
Efficiency: Managing time effectively to meet production deadlines without compromising structural integrity.
Problem-Solving: Identifying potential fabrication issues and suggesting modifications to improve the build process.
