Facilities Management at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Carpenter.
What youll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager Facilities Operation the Carpenter works with the maintenance team to plan and design projects including cost estimates. The Carpenter assists in renovations repairs interior and exterior building components drywall repairs T-bar concrete and form work. Additional responsibilities include cabinet making repairs and finish work preventive maintenance on all campus buildings and responds to emergency call-ins. The position may range from day-to-day work orders to larger project builds throughout the campus.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have completed a college diploma and hold an Interprovincial Trade Certificate as a Journeyperson Carpenter with three (3) years related experience. Candidates will have considerable knowledge of methods practices materials and equipment employed in the carpentry trade the hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary in maintenance and repair work. Thorough knowledge of Canadian Building Code Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and WHIMIS training is required. The ability to plan projects to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and the ability to work at heights and confined spaces is also required. Previous experience in locksmithing is considered an asset.
Classification: Permanent Full-Time NSGEU Level 7 Positions
Rate of Pay: $28.56 per hour (40 hours/week)
(Step Progression $28.56 to $33.41 per hour)
