Job Summary

McLean Hospital is seeking to fill a full-time Dietitian position in our new Metabolic Psychiatry Center outpatient clinic. This clinic is dedicated to the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders with a particular focus on integrating metabolic psychiatry approaches into routine clinical care. The outpatient services will play a key role in supporting and complementing real-world evidence on how metabolic interventions i.e. nutritional interventions influence patient outcomes.

As part of a comprehensive outpatient program the Dietitian will conduct nutritional assessments develop personalized nutritional plans provide education and help patients adopt nutritional strategies aligned with their psychiatric and metabolic needs. This includes guiding patients in evidence-based metabolic approaches such as the ketogenic diet ensuring safe gradual implementation and addition to routine clinical responsibilities the dietitian will assist with activities related to clinical research studies including patient education about study protocols development of study-specific diets collection of nutrition-related data and accurate documentation of study-related data.
Candidates must be licensed in the state of Massachusetts. Clinical experience working with children and/or adults along with familiarity in providing nutritional interventions for individuals with a range of mental health conditions is preferred.
Experience with implementing or supporting ketogenic therapy in a clinical setting is desirable; however given the emerging nature of this field candidates without direct experience who demonstrate strong clinical skills and a commitment to learning will be considered.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in advancing clinical practice through evidence-based emerging approaches in metabolic and mental health. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to an innovative area of care with the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes through nutritional therapy.
Summary
Manages the comprehensive medical nutritional care of patients which includes providing nutrition assessment development of nutrition care plans diet modification nutrition education and all activities involved in the nutritional needs of the patient population.


Essential Functions
Based on multiple criterion including assessment of nutritional needs physicians orders clinical data interdisciplinary health care plans and standards of quality nutritional care that appropriately meet age psychosocial and physical needs of patients the Dietitian develops and implements nutrition plan of care for patients.

Documentation of all nutrition related information including assessment nutrition therapy recommendations and care plan follow up data and changes diet consultation results discharge planning daily clinical activities and other related orders and pertinent information.

Counsel educate and develop resources and materials for the education of patients on families on prescribed therapeutic diets.

Partner with food service staff to ensure meals supplements and nutrition support is provided; review patients menu selections to monitor compliance with modified diets.

Education

Bachelors Degree Clinical Dietitian required

Dietitian and Nutritionist State License preferred

Heartsaver CPR AED Certification CPR preferred

Registered Dietitian RD preferred

Registered Dietitican Nutritionist RDN preferred
