The Medical Practice Evaluation Center (MPEC) is seeking a bilingual (English and Portuguese) Research Assistant (Clinical Research Coordinators) to work with an internationally recognized multidisciplinary team from Massachusetts General Hospital to support sexual health and HIV-prevention studies in Boston.
The targeted start date for this position is March 2026.
The bilingual Research Assistant will support recruitment and data collection for a study with Portuguese-speaking patients at Bostons community health organizations.
Responsibilities may include:
Completing study- and skill-specific trainings in our research protocol and the conduct of qualitative research.
Leading semi-structured interviews with Portuguese-speaking research participants on subjects related to sexual health and HIV prevention.
Conducting informed consent conversations with Portuguese-speaking research participants.
Completing additional memos/field notes about research encounters.
Contributing documentation as required by study protocols to maintain Good Clinical Practice and research management best practices.
Assisting in reviewing research findings and output for submission to academic conferences journals or community dissemination.
Providing administrative support as needed including scheduling interviews and communicating with research participants with Portuguese-speaking patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires:
Fluency in English and Portuguese.
Communication skills (writing speaking moderating).
Reliability and consistency.
The ability to work independently.
Multicultural and gender sensitivity.
Experience working with people from a range of racial ethnic sexual orientation gender identities and health conditions.
Comfort with discussing sexual health topics.
The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
Experience working as part of a diverse team including remote collaboration.
Additional experience that is helpful but not required:
Prior research or work experience in qualitative research is an advantage.
Experience working on community-based sexual health in Boston strongly preferred.
Fluency in both Spanish and Portuguese.
Job Summary
Summary:Following established policies procedures and study protocols provides assistance on clinical research studies including recruiting evaluating and consenting patients for studies; collecting and organizing patient data; scheduling patients for study visits; performing clinical tests such as phlebotomy EKGs etc.; maintaining and updating data generated by the study. Candidates who are in the process of completing their bachelors degree have a grace period of six months from their hire date (up to 1 year if starting per diem)to provide degree equivalency verification.Essential Functions:
-Reviews proposals for compliance with sponsor and organizational guidelines; verify all sponsor requirements are met.
-Recruiting patients for clinical trials conducts phone interviews.
-Verifies the accuracy of study forms and updates them per protocol.
-Prepares data for analysis and data entry.
-Documents patient visits and procedures.
-Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC Procedures.
-Assists with interviewing study subjects.
-Assists with study regulator submissions.
