This position will be located in VA Beach VA
HII Unmanned Systems is seeking an experienced candidate to come join our team! As our new Supplier Quality Engineer you will:
- Oversee all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) as it applies to our Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) programs.
- Collaborate with the Sub-contract Management Team to ensure sub-contractor Statement of Work (SOW) quality requirements are defined and subsequently met.
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure quality assurance and control requirements are accounted for as early in program lifecycle as possible.
- Conduct supplier and sub-contractor audits to ensure compliant performance drive process standardization waste elimination and continuousimprovement.
- Travel to supplier locations to ensure quality requirement clarity conduct capability or quality risk assessments and/or resolve quality problems.
- Travel to other HII sites to lead quality improvement initiatives and/or quality assurance assessments as it relates to USV programs
- Collaborate with other mission partners both across HII as well as external strategic partners to ensure a robust USV quality program.
- Work with purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate andtimely corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain and update critical supplier audit system and schedule.
- Monitor communicate and improve key supply chain KPIs including Supplier OTD (Pastdue) DPPM and waste.
- Establish specific short / long term supplier quality goals.
- Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers toeliminate recurrence of nonconformances.
- Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.
- Developlongterm supplier relationships and generate and implement cost reduction ideas.
- Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase the suppliercapability of consistently meeting our requirements. Projects may include process analysis valuestream mapping process capability and throughput analysis 6Sigma 5S and Kaizen events.
- Communicate engineering and manufacturing specifications to supplier technical teams.
- Actively manage suppliers to ensure there are no regressions with the implementation of newprocesses.
- Aide in the new probationary and rejected supplier transition processes.
- Assure compliance to all applicable legal requirements pertaining to the environmental aspects andimpacts.
- Work to help achieve the performance goals established in the environmental measurementareas.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product process andquality systems.
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product process and quality system Initiaterecommend or provide solutions.
