- Completion of the tenth (10th) school grade
- One (1) year of experience in playground and park maintenance forestry or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Assets:
- Emergency First Aid Certificate
- Experience and training operating tractors mowers and sportsfields maintenance equipment
Skills required for success:
- Good knowledge of the methods and practices used in operating and caring for equipment
- The ability and knowledge to complete an equipment pre-trip inspection on correlating equipment required for the task
- Knowledge of the daily maintenance required on the equipment
- Knowledge of the PARS Operating Procedures and SOPs
- Exemplary customer service skills
- Ability to work and make decisions independently
- Ability to operate various equipment including tractors mowers and snow removal equipment
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable to changing priorities whether because of managerial direction or weather-related factors

Conditions of Employment:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Drivers permit is a requirement of this position
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays
- Successful candidates will be fit for a half-mask respirator and compliance with the City of Edmontons Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment including medical monitoring is a requirement of this position
- Compliance with the City of Edmontons safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as wearing steel-toed boots safety glasses hearing protection gloves and a reflective safety vest is a requirement for this position is a requirement for this position

- The work environment is primarily outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions. The position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting bending and carrying

As a Labourer II you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of various parks and athletic facilities. This is a physically demanding role that requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. You will be operating a variety of equipment including tractors mowers and various hand tools t. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic a commitment to safety and a willingness to learn.
What will you do
- Maintain sports fields including setting line markings leveling baseball diamonds maintaining tennis courts and operating irrigation systems
- Perform turf rehabilitation and maintenance using tractors skid steers and other equipment
- Conduct safety inspections of sports fields and associated fixtures to ensure they meet safety standards
- Assist with the construction and repair of parkland sportsfields fixtures t and facilities
- Collect litter and refuse at various sportsfields sites
- Maintain facilities and park site/ground areas for cleanliness and safety
- Perform other related duties as required
