Schedule: Monday Friday Day Shift
Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (45 hours/week)

Job Overview

Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder for a hybrid opportunity based in Houston TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and accurately assigning appropriate codes for billing reporting and compliance. Candidates must reside in Texas Georgia Louisiana Oklahoma or Tennessee.

Key Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes
• Apply appropriate modifiers and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations
• Code outpatient encounters including Evaluation & Management (E/M) services
• Support APC reimbursement and regulatory compliance processes
• Accurately extract and enter data into abstracting systems
• Follow official coding guidelines and internal compliance policies
• Communicate with providers to clarify documentation (query process)
• Ensure adherence to ethical coding standards and best practices
• Maintain high accuracy productivity and quality standards
• Assist with training and mentoring junior staff as needed
• Participate in ongoing education and professional development

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate Degree in a medical or related field preferred

Certifications (One Required):

• CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
• RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
• CMC (Certified Medical Coder)
• CCA (Certified Coding Associate)

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of outpatient coding experience required
• Strong experience with E/M coding
• Experience in outpatient neurology or neurosurgery coding preferred
• At least 6 months of HCC coding experience preferred
• Experience with EPIC system preferred
