About CatholicCare NT and the Program

CatholicCare NT is a Catholic social service agency established in the Diocese of Darwin. We provide services throughout the NT including service centres in Darwin Palmerston Malak Tiwi Islands Daly River Wadeye Jabiru Maningrida Katherine Tennant Creek Alice Springs Santa Teresa Titjikala Finke and APY lands.

The purpose of the CatholicCare NT (CCNT) Intake Worker is to support efficient responsive and integrated access to the Berrimah Palmerston and Malak programs and services.

About the role

The Family Support Worker works alongside Aboriginal families to strengthen parenting build on family strengths and improve outcomes for children. This role is about walking with families on their journey sharing knowledge providing practical support and connecting families with community culture and the services that can help them thrive.

Youll be supporting families through home visits running groups and activities and helping families navigate services in a way that respects their culture and values. Building trust listening deeply and working from a strengths-based approach are at the heart of this work.

Some after-hours and weekend work may be required (as approved by the designated Manager) to meet the needs of families. This is balanced by equivalent time off during the week so total hours per fortnight dont exceed the standard 76 hours.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant qualifications in Social Services Community Services or Welfare Studies with substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in Family Support in a social service environment
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to build connection and trust with families particularly Aboriginal families experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage
  • Knowledge of the sector and ability to collaborate with other services.
  • Ability to work independently in a community-based role including managing your own workload case planning time management report writing and maintaining professional boundaries
