About the Role

As the Laboratory Assistant/Pathology Collector you will perform the pre-processing of samples received at the reception area of Pathology. This includes identification numbering and distribution of samples and may include computer entry weighing centrifugation or aliquoting.

  • Data entry of patient details clinical notes requested tests billing information process request forms through the document scanning system

  • Clerical duties such as filing photocopying and faxing and responding to telephone enquiries for information or results

  • Performing basic laboratory processes and instrument maintenance

Classifications for this position are:

HS1A - ($54839.2 per annum pro rata)

IN24 - ($62540.4 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution

  • Victorian Certificate of Education (or equivalent) or a Certificate awarded by TAFE

  • Basic to intermediate skills for data entry into a laboratory information system

  • Basic laboratory skills & understanding of simple laboratory tests

  • An ability to respond to enquiries for information on laboratory procedures & patient results

  • Current National criminal history check or willing to obtain

St Vincents Pathology is a private practice offering diagnostic testing to both inpatients of St Vincents Private Hospitals located in Fitzroy East Melbourne and Kew St Vincents Public Hospital Fitzroy as well as servicing privately referred patients in up to 80 Pathology Collection centres located across Metropolitan Melbourne.
