Senior Product Development Engineer

iGii have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Development Engineer to join their rapidly expanding R&D department. As a senior member of the Sensors Engineering team youll lead the design development and validation of innovative products and processes partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who thrives on taking ownership driving concept to manufacture delivery shaping how we prototype and validate and coaching others in a fast-paced highly collaborative culture. Youll work with some fantastic customers conducting research at the forefront of science and technology.

Your purpose in the Role:

You will own multiple product and process development projects from concept through to validated manufacture and transfer. Your main accountabilities will be:

• Product and Process Design and Development
• Project Management
• Concept to delivery for internal and external customers.
• DOE Data Analysis Reports
• Maintaining Good Records / GMP

What you will do and how you will succeed:

You will be responsible for creating alignment on project scope and milestones making robust data-led decisions ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining a high-quality standard of prototyping capabilities and development practices across the team.

• Lead product and process development from concept through validation and transfer applying expert knowledge of the iGii design process and strong project management principles
• Develop test systems for internal and external projects which include electronics design development and prototyping
• Generate and present highquality design concepts for internal and customer approval translating the voice of the customer into clear design inputs
• Build test and derisk concepts using rapid prototyping iGii manufacturing processes or qualified external partners
• Conduct feasibility assessments for new products and processes including integration with existing systems and customer supply chains
• Oversee creation and approval of key documentation including IQ/OQ/PQ SOPs SWPs risk assessments and process flows
• Plan and execute complex multiinput test programmes (DoE) analyse data using process excellence tools and present clear evidencebased recommendations
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously defining scope milestones and budgets; maintaining schedules; and providing timely status updates issues and escalations
• Lead customer meetings and internal reviews communicating progress risks and decisions confidently
• Ensure rapid prototyping capability meets business needs overseeing equipment process health and continuous improvement and training others in 3D prototyping
• Convert CAD designs into working prototypes using internal or external resources ensuring strong designformanufacture principles
• Maintain excellent documentation in line with ISO 9001:2015 and the iGii NPI framework contributing to continuous improvement of internal processes.

Who we are looking for:

• Degreequalified in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. product design mechanical manufacturing biomedical or related); a Masters degree is desirable
• Experience in diagnostic sensor consumable or reader/instrument development including integration of electronics firmware and mechanical components *
• Candidates with an understanding of how sensing components can be manufactured and integrated into complete devices
• Demonstratable experience working under Design Controls including design inputs/outputs V&V planning risk management and full documentation traceability
  
• Advanced 3D CAD capability with a strong designformanufacture mindset; proven ability to turn concepts into manufacturable solutions
• Track record leading multidisciplinary projects using strong project management principles; Six Sigma qualified is desirable
• Demonstrable experience planning and executing complex test programmes (DoE) analysing data with process excellence tools and writing clear technical reports for decisionmaking
• Handson familiarity with prototyping and manufacturing techniques (e.g. 3D printing CNC milling injection moulding laser cutting) and the judgement to select appropriate methods
• Deep understanding of quality systems and documentation practice such as ISO 9001:2015 IQ/OQ/PQ SOPs risk assessments and good recordkeeping/GMP principles
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to present complex technical information clearly to senior stakeholders and customers
  

*Applicants must have direct experience in biosensor and/or diagnostic instrument development. Experience solely in automotive aerospace industrial engineering or other non regulated sectors is unlikely to meet requirements unless accompanied by direct medical/diagnostics device experience.

Experience in the following is a plus however we welcome candidates who are keen to develop their skills in these areas:

• Hands on experience with reader or instrument development for diagnostic systems such as analysers wearables benchtop test platforms or connected medical devices
• Understanding of clinical workflows sample to answer processes or usability considerations for diagnostic devices
• Experience with V&V strategy test case creation risk based test methods and regulated documentation
• Embedded electronics software verification instrument firmware and connected device experience especially in the context of diagnostic readers or medical instruments is highly desirable
• Customerfacing experience capturing the voice of the customer and translating it into precise design inputs and acceptance criteria
• Experience in training others in prototyping processes/equipment and raising the standard of engineering practice across the team
