Job Summary
The Automation Superintendent oversees manpower scheduling field installation commissioning and quality control of automation systems including PLCs HMIs VFDs instrumentation and building automation equipment. This role ensures automation projects are completed safely on schedule and according to specifications. The superintendent supports project teams coordinates subcontractors and provides technical guidance to field personnel.
Needs to work with operations team to manage the field personnel scheduling of both installation and programming/graphics activities. The primary objective is to ensure project schedules are kept while minimizing inefficiencies due to lack of planning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise daily field automation activities to ensure compliance with plans safety requirements quality standards along with EMCORs required field submission items such as dailys pre task plans etc.
Coordinate installation testing and commissioning of PLCs instrumentation and control systems.
Review engineering designs control drawings point to point schedules and submittals.
Troubleshoot automation hardware and software issues during construction and startup.
Provide technical direction to automation technicians and subcontractors.
Conduct site inspections to verify correct installation and functionality of automation equipment.
Collaborate with project managers to maintain schedules and resolve technical issues.
Ensure documentation redlines and as builts are completed accurately.
Support commissioning functional testing and system turnover processes.
Maintain strong communication with clients contractors and internal teams.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; associate or bachelors degree in engineering preferred.
5 years of experience in automation controls installation or industrial electrical work.
Knowledge of PLCs HMIs VFDs instrumentation and control wiring standards.
Experience with automation platforms such as BACnet or Modbus.
Ability to read and interpret control drawings and technical specifications.
Proficiency with laptops commissioning tools and office software.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Experience as foreman and/or running jobs with 3-5 personnel and multiple trades.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Valid drivers license and ability to travel among job sites.

Geographic Disclosure
Compensation Range: $160000 - $180000 per year
