Job Summary
The Waldor Lab at Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Womens Hospital studies bacterial pathogenesis with an emphasis on applying next-generation sequencing technologies to decipher various aspects of host-pathogen biology. The Waldor Lab is seeking a Research Lab Tech I to assist with various tasks in the lab. These include:
1) Mouse colony management
2) Assistance with next generation sequencing experiments
3) Administrative tasks such as instrument maintenance and ordering supplies
4) Project-specific experiments
We encourage the candidate to bring their own ideas and enthusiasm to projects in the lab. After training for job-specific tasks we anticipate that the candidate will help design and execute experiments for projects that they are interested in as well as independently pursue new areas of exploration.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required.
- 0-1 yr of experience.
Attention to detail accurate recordkeeping and effective communication are required.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Prior experience with general laboratory techniques and handling mice is preferred but not necessary. We encourage candidates without laboratory experience to apply as we will provide ample training for all tasks and experimental procedures particularly in preclinical infectious disease models molecular biology and genomics.

We anticipate the appointment to last at least two years

- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
- Proficiency in data collection analysis and scientific software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures results and challenges.
