The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Integration & Test Engineer (Midlevel or Senior) to join the Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions team located in Sacramento CA at Beale AFB. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

Phantom Works is an advanced research and development organization responsible for engaging customers through cutting-edge visual modeling and simulation; innovating cross-cutting concepts and technologies; prototyping solutions to extend current products and win new programs; and developing new businesses and entering new markets. The organization is seeking software engineers to perform software design and development for Space-based effects in support of air domain missions.

The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-program environment. He/she will support the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. He/she should be adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Mid Level or Senior Software Engineers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support on-site software installations upgrades and patch validation.

  • Assist in system checkout and verification events.

  • Validate environment parity between lab and field deployments.

  • Reproduce field defects within lab environments for root cause analysis.

  • Capture logs telemetry and system state data to support diagnostics.

  • Support cybersecurity hardening and compliance validation efforts.

  • Collaborate closely with Integration & Test teams in St. Louis.

  • Validate release packages prior to deployment.

  • Ensure configuration consistency across lab and operational environments.

  • Support continuous improvement of deployment automation and DevSecOps pipelines.

  • Define test strategies plans procedures and acceptance criteria for component integration and system-level testing.

  • Design and execute verification & validation activities (functional interface performance reliability regression).

  • Analyze test results perform root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions.

  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines working closely with software developers system architects and test engineers to validate end-to-end functionality and mission effectiveness.

  • Lead integration of hardware software and mission systems in secure DoD environments ensuring interoperability performance and mission assurance.

  • Apply modern DevSecOps practicesincluding CI/CD pipelines automated testing containerized deployments and infrastructure as codeto streamline integration and test activities.

  • Stand up configure and maintain secure test environments leveraging cloud-native and virtualized resources (e.g. AWS GovCloud Azure Government or on-premise equivalents).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Active Top Secret US Security clearance

  • 3 years of experience in software system integration and test

  • 3 years of experience with the DevSecOps

  • 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer leading systems engineering integration and test activities

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science and 3 years of related work experience OR Bachelors Degree and 7 years of directly related work experience OR 13 years of related relevant experience

  • Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science and 5 years of related work experience OR Bachelors Degree and 13 years of directly related work experience OR 17 years of related relevant experience

  • 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Practical experience with requirements decomposition requirements tracing and configuration management.

  • Experience writing test plans and procedures and executing system-level integration and verification.

  • Familiar with standard engineering tools such as requirements management (DOORS or similar) MBSE (MSOSA/Cameo or similar) test management and common collaboration tools (Jira Confluence Git).

  • Proficient with one or more scripting or programming languages (e.g. Python Bash Matlab) for test automation and data analysis.

  • Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Understanding of networking fundamentals.

  • Experience with configuration management tools

  • Exposure to Linux and Windows

  • Real-time software development experience but not require

  • Experience with mission systems avionics command & control architectures embedded systems sensor systems or related defense/space programs.
