A Day in the Life

Medtronics Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business is looking for a motivated engineer to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of medical this role you will leverage both your technical breadth and business acumen to accelerate the design and development of next generation medical devices. This engineering position requires strong technical and leadership skills to support the design and development of innovative new products within the Cardiac and Vascular Group. The Principal Systems Engineer will apply knowledge of systems engineering and experience in working on complex multidisciplinary problems and will provide leadership of projects from early phase development to market release.

The candidate will be responsible for leading system engineering activities with the goal to represent the Systems Engineering discipline through a business integration process where QMS entities need to be aligned.

Systems Engineering activities typically involve trade-offs between risks benefits and performance. Systems Engineering activities are performed within the constraints of a complex regulatory environment in partnership with development (software firmware hardware mechanical engineering) research clinical regulatory product planning and marketing groups.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Mange the systems function through major / moderately complex projects involving delegation of work and review of work products
• Plan and deploy an execution plan to the systems engineering team working on a complex business integration
• Deep knowledge of requirements and test flow
• Experience with VoC use case development use conditions and risk management
• Significant with SAAP and software development
• Experience with C .NET Jira
• Significant experience with software integration & fault tree analysis
• Serve as both the project manager and scrum master for the systems engineering efforts
• Ensure all systems engineering deliverables have resource and execution plans
• Ensure cross-functional alignment of all systems engineering owned deliverables
• Perform functional analysis timeline analysis detail trade studies requirements allocation and interface definition studies
• Lead the systems engineering team through planning and execution Risk Analysis activities such as FMEAs and Hazard Analyses for systems features and implementations with the intent to eliminate or mitigate the risks in the identified scenarios
• Provide guidance coaching and training to other employees within job area
• Establish and advocate for best practices and continuous improvement to mature Systems Engineering knowledge and processes
• Champion consistent implementation of the Quality System across projects
• Works independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approach to solutions. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower-level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies from design to implementation while adhering to policies using specialized knowledge and skills.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements-

To be considered for this role please ensure the minimum requirements are evident in your applicant profile:

• Bachelors degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in quality or engineering
• Or an Advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in quality or engineering.

Nice to Have

• Experience with IEC 60601-1
• Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering
• Experience with QMS requirements
• Experience with wireless communication protocols
• Experience with cyber security

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$128000.00 - $192000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
