Whats the Opportunity

This position offers the opportunity to serve as a key contributor to Anchor QEAs restoration and resiliency practice in California and throughout the west coast. Working alongside Anchor QEAs staff of engineers scientists and planners and interfacing with federal state and local regulatory agencies our clients and the public the role will lead landscape architecture services in waterfront development shoreline resilience habitat restoration public access and recreation projects.

The managing landscape architect position includes overseeing coordinating managing and supporting projects during all stages of development and requires familiarity and experience with ecological-based multi-benefit planning and design. The position will require occasional travel within California and potentially the Pacific Northwest to visit sites; conduct field work; and participate in public client agency Tribal and stakeholder meetings.

The managing landscape architect position offers the opportunity to contribute to continued growth and visibility of Anchor QEAs restoration and resiliency practice through client engagement business development and mentoring junior staff. This position carries meaningful expectations for technical leadership project delivery and business development within a collaborative and technically rigorous consulting environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead landscape architecture design from concept through implementation for waterfront development shoreline resilience habitat restoration public access and recreation projects
  • Lead development of graphic deliverables
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive site analyses and to identify project opportunities and constraints
  • Communicate design planning and analyses through graphic presentation materials reports and memoranda
  • Lead restoration design including grading materials planting and irrigation design
  • Prepare and coordinate construction document packages including drawings technical specifications and construction cost estimates with limited oversight and direction
  • Develop and document constructable design details
  • Conduct construction administration during project implementation
  • Serve as project manager on small- to medium-sized projects including developing and tracking project schedules managing and tracking project budgets and reviewing monthly invoice tracking developing project scopes and fee estimates and managing internal and external teams.
  • Lead meetings with clients Tribes stakeholders and the public
  • Support business development efforts including proposal preparation client engagement relationship development and identification of new waterfront and coastal permitting opportunities
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior staff and contribute to strategic planning for restoration and resiliency initiatives

What Are We Looking For

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution
  • Licensed Landscape Architect in California
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in landscape architecture restoration design and project management in California
  • An understanding of and experience with coastal freshwater and estuarine systems
  • Fluency in the following software programs is required: AutoCAD ArcGIS Adobe Creative Suite Lumion SketchUp and MS Office Suite
  • The ability to learn new skills adapt to changing priorities work in multidisciplinary teams and work independently
  • Experience with federal state (California) and local environmental regulations and with the permitting process for projects with aquatic resources
  • Strong writing organizational critical thinking and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a client-focused consulting environment
  • Competency and experience in irrigation design
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing scopes schedules and budgets for complex projects.
  • Experience supporting client development efforts and contributing to proposal preparation

  • Salary Range: $129298 - $145460
  • Annual Bonus
