Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced person to take up the role of Professional Experience Coordinator in Secondary Education. We are also advertising a similar role which requires Primary Education knowledge. Both positions will be based on the Tauranga campus and will work closely with our Hamilton team.

In this pivotal role you will lead the coordination and delivery of professional experience placements working closely with schools academic staff and student teachers. You will ensure high-quality research-informed professional experiences that meet Teaching Council requirements and support student success.

You will play a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with school partners coordinating placements and visiting lecturers contributing to programme development and supporting the recruitment and selection of future teacher candidates. You will also contribute to teaching within Initial Teacher Education programmes.

This is a varied and rewarding role for someone passionate about teacher education collaboration and continuous improvement.

Salary will be in the range of $81389 to $114226 per year pro rata based on skills knowledge and experience brought to the position. These are full-time roles (37.5 hours a week) based on our Tauranga Campus.

You will be an experienced educator with a strong understanding of teaching in New Zealand and a passion for developing future teachers.

You will bring:

  • A postgraduate qualification in education and a recognised teacher education qualification
  • Current New Zealand teacher registration
  • Recent experience teaching in New Zealand schools
  • Proven experience mentoring teachers or leading professional development
  • Strong knowledge of current teaching and learning practices
  • Excellent communication organisational and relationship management skills

You will also be collaborative proactive and adaptable with the ability to build strong partnerships with schools and stakeholders and to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
