Position Overview:
The Emergency Management & Security Intern supports the planning coordination and implementation of programs designed to prepare for respond to and recover from natural and man-made disasters/ incidents. This role provides hands-on experience in disaster preparedness public safety security and interagency coordination.

What you will do:
- Assist in developing and updating emergency response and preparedness plans
- Support training exercises drills and simulations for emergency scenarios
- Conduct research on best practices in emergency management and hazard mitigation
- Help with coordinating communication between departments and with neighbor agencies and community partners
- Participate in public outreach initiatives to promote disaster preparedness
- Maintain records reports and documentation related to emergency planning activities
- Assist during emergency activations or incidents as appropriate
Support in ensuring the security of city assets personnel and infrastructure
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a college or university (major/ field of study: Emergency Management Homeland Security Public Administration or close related field) with strong interest in emergency management security public safety crisis response or community resilience
Basic knowledge of emergency management principles (e.g. ICS/NIMS) and cybersecurity
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint)
Preferred Skills/ Certifications:
- ICS-100 IS-700 IS-800.
- Research and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information
Learning Outcomes:

- Understand real-world applications of disaster preparedness and recovery strategies
