Position Title: Math Teacher 9-12 (Algebra Emphasis)

Department: Alma High School

Reports To: Alma High School Principal

Contract: 190 Days

QUALIFICATIONS

Holds or is able to secure Arkansas teaching license specifically in secondary mathematics

ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILL SET

• The position has an emphasis in Algebra I
• Teach secondary mathematics courses to students in grades 9-12 utilizing course guidelines that are aligned with Arkansas teaching/learning standards and other designated district curriculum standards
• Develop and study curriculum lesson plans that support conceptual understanding. Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models other available technology in the understanding of mathematical algorithms
• Has a passion for teaching and learning mathematics concepts
• Provide opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly productive classroom environment
• Evaluate each students progress in mathematical knowledge and skills
• Utilize graphing calculators and other technological tools to deepen student learning/understanding of mathematics
• Communicates with parents and other personnel regarding student mastery and progress.
• Supervise students in and out-of-classroom during the assigned work day
• Maintain professional competence; participate in curriculum development and Professional Learning Communities
• Share in the sponsorship of student activities such as mathematics teams and other faculty committees
• Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator in their evaluation and professional growth plan
• Creates a classroom environment and lessons that are conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students (including differentiation and engagement)
• Displays effective classroom management and incorporates engaging student activities
• Strive to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives
• Perform other duties as assigned.
