This position reports to:

Area Field Service Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Technician with deep expertise in power delivery systems switchgear and PLC-based automation of industrial commercial and utility processes particularly in the field of critical power this role you will perform installation troubleshooting repair and preventative maintenance on electrical distribution equipment.

The work model for the role is Hybrid including some time in the office at ABBs Linthicum Heights MD location some remote work in your Home Office for engineering preparation and at customer sites mostly in the Maryland and Washington DC area. However travel to other areas in the Mid-Atlantic Region is to be expected.

This role is contributing to the profitability of the ABB Electrification Services Division in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for hands-on execution of projects including Startup commissioning maintenance troubleshooting engineering design and repair of Power Delivery equipment including switchgear Circuit Breakers PLCs Relays Power Management Controls systems and other Power related equipment & controls.

  • Program and configure PLC systems distributed I/O and HMI interfaces for power monitoring and automation.

  • Develop electrical equipment layouts schematics network architectures and bills of material.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of engineering or field experience in power delivery work. Additional formal education may substitute for required experience on a yearforyear basis.

  • Strong knowledge of switchgear transformers circuit breakers and low/medium voltage systems.

  • Experience with Protective relay programming (Multilin SEL etc.).

  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% as required.

  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid drivers license.

  • Strong Computer skills to include Outlook Excel and Word.

  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicants qualifications and experience this position is expected to pay between $83300 and $133280 annually.
