Job Summary The Cultural Land Stewardship Researcher will lead research with northern Statimc Nations to integrate Indigenous knowledge and environmental science. Responsibilities include documenting land use assessing forest health and developing cultural burning and sustainable land management strategies. Conduct historical land use studies comparing past and present forest conditions and wildfire patterns. Develop recommendations for wildfire mitigation and cultural burning strategies. Prepare detailed reports proposals and budgets and liaise with provincial and federal agencies. Qualifications Degree in Environmental Studies Indigenous Studies Forestry Cultural Anthropology Research or related field or Grade 12 plus 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience in project management particularly in a nonprofit. Experience working in First Nation communities engaging community leaders and elders. Knowledge of wildfire mitigation cultural burning and land stewardship practices. Strong research and analytical skills (qualitative and quantitative).
