Mō te tūnga About the role
The Operational Capability Groupoversees the procurement lifecycle management and sustainability of NZ police assets and equipment. The Operational Capability workgroup includes the following teams: Capability and Deployable Assets Equipment Management Group Custody and Public Order Policing and Capability Insights and Performance. We are looking to fill two positions:
The first role reports to the Capability workgroup in the tactical equipment and uniform team. It involves a focus on uniform in its current and future state in line with NZ safety standards. The second role reports to the Equipment Management Group and will involve coordinating and monitoring the supply and day to day logistics of uniform and equipment.
Specifically the advisory officers will be helping to plan for the future of NZ Polices frontline tactical equipment and uniform while ensuring our current capability remains fully supported through its useful life. Both roles will build relationships with police staff all over the country and be expected to work with them to find solutions to common problems whilst working collaboratively together with internal and external partners.
Key Accountabilities:
- Focuses on the current and future state of Police uniform and equipment
- Assists with subject matter expertise on the research development and quality assurance
- Identifies evidence-based opportunities for improvement of uniform and operational equipment
- Acts as a source of advice for specifications and technical information
- Coordinates supply maintenance and disposal activities between districts
- Responds to uniform and equipment issues and coordinates remediation
- Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Provides advice on NZ safety standards
- Knows the legislation policy and guidelines relevant to the role and how to access them
- Able to take ownership of the role to be pro-active and to be a curious and pragmatic problem solver!

Whilst we are looking for skills knowledge and experience relevant to the role we also place high importance on your state of mind the alignment of your values with ours your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams and the way that you lead yourself or others.
We are looking for people with experience in equipment and inventory management within the public sector environment and practical knowledge of integrated logistic support. Be conversant in digital equipment management and inventory tools with a analytical background and good communication skills who can demonstrate effective working relationships within teams. Previous experience and a working knowledge in tactical equipment (body armour or uniform for example) would be an advantage

Utu ā-tau Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $87306 and $91353 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
