We are seeking an experienced Security Systems Manager to drive and deliver strategic futurefocused security systems and processes that support a safe secure and sustainable campus environment for our people.
Reporting into Property Services you will lead the Access Control team and Operations Centre ensuring service excellence responsive incident management and system resilience while actively reviewing improving and embedding strategic change to drive the continuous improvement of security services across the University.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing security systems access control and operations centre teams to deliver highquality reliable services
- Maintaining a safe and secure campus environment minimising risk to people property and University assets
- Developing implementing and maintaining security policies procedures and response plans with a strong focus on reviewing existing practices identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing more effective processes and ways of working using sound change management principles
- Managing and maintaining security platforms including access control CCTV and incident management systems ensuring compliance and operational readiness
- Leading and coordinating responses to critical and emergency incidents working closely with Police Fire and Emergency Services and participating in an afterhours leadership roster
- Supporting the management of contractors supporting investigations and postincident reviews and driving continuous improvement across security services
This is a permanent fulltime position (37.5 hours per week). The salary range for this role is $110000 $120000 negotiable depending on skills and experience.

You are an experienced security professional who is confident in managing complex security systems and operations within a large multisite or institutional environment. You are able to link security operations to risk management understanding your role and mission in a strategic framework. You bring strong operational judgement a calm and decisive approach to incident response and the ability to balance immediate service delivery with longerterm strategic system resilience and improvement.
You have a solid understanding of health and safety and securityrelated regulatory frameworks with experience across access control CCTV incident management and/or operations centre platforms. Highly organised and analytical you are able to interpret data identify risks and trends and translate insights into practical wellreasoned solutions. You work in close partnership with your team and key stakeholders to implement change embed improved ways of working and enhance operational efficiency and service outcomes.
You build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies such as Police and Fire and Emergency NZ and are recognised for your ability to prioritise competing demands lead teams through complexity and change and deliver safe reliable and compliant security services aligned with organisational values.
E rapua ana mātou We are seeking
- A relevant technical or systemsfocused tertiary qualification or equivalent NZQA unit standards
- Proven experience leading coaching and developing staff and contractors alongside developing implementing and maintaining security policies procedures and operating frameworks
- The capability to lead improvement projects implement changed ways of working and apply sound change management principles to achieve sustainable outcomes
- Demonstrable experience managing enterprisescale security control systems within a large complex or institutional environment
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation Worksafe practices and regulatory requirements in a security environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain databases analyse and interpret data and produce accurate reports
- Current Certificates of Approval (COA) under the Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Act is desirable
- Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) certification to Level 4 is desirable
