$150000 to $230000 annually including potential bonuses and incentives based on experience.

The Emergency Veterinary Clinic of Tualatin (EVCOT) is seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian to join our team. For more than 30 years EVCOT has been highly respected in the veterinary community serving patients from the Portland metro area to the Oregon Coast. Founded by veterinarians EVCOT remains owned by a currently practicing emergency veterinarian.

Our veterinarians are supported by:

a radiology team on site through our partnership with Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and Cytology (VDIC)
diagnostic ultrasounds available 6 days a week
Our medical team includes 10 full-time veterinarians 6 part-time veterinarians highly skilled certified veterinary technicians veterinary assistants and kennel staff.
Schedule and Work-Life Balance
Full-time veterinarians work:
12 shifts per month in months with 30 days or fewer
13 shifts per month in months with 31 days
Doctors average 3 shifts per week and are never scheduled more than 3 consecutive days in a row unless requested.
Staff doctors typically work a mix of the following shifts:
Monday through Friday
10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
5:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. overnight
Saturday Sunday and observed holidays
8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. overnight
Full-time staff veterinarians average 4 to 8 overnight shifts per month. Additional shifts worked beyond the standard schedule are paid as bonuses.
Schedules are generally flexible and built around time-off requests whenever possible. Unused PTO is paid out as a bonus on the employees work anniversary.
Part-time positions and set schedules may also be accommodated when compatible with existing scheduling needs.
Mentorship and Support
EVCOT offers a highly collaborative environment. With the exception of overnights there is always another experienced doctor on staff for consultation and collaboration. Even on overnight shifts doctors have less than 6 hours without another doctor physically present and the practice owner is available by phone for consultation and can often come in if needed.
Surgical and endoscopy mentorship is available and a second doctor can assist with procedures when needed including support with smaller procedures such as urinary catheter placement.
Onboarding is tailored to the individual doctors experience level. For new graduates and less experienced candidates initial scheduling is focused on day and swing shifts until the doctor is comfortable with hospital operations and the types of cases we commonly see.
Emergency experience is strongly preferred but mentorship is available for the right candidate.
Clinical Opportunities
The successful candidate will practice high-quality emergency medicine and surgery while managing a varied and rewarding caseload.
All staff doctors perform emergency procedures such as:
pyometra surgery (emergency ovariohysterectomy)
foreign body obstruction surgery (gastrotomy enterotomy resection and anastomosis)
splenectomy
emergency cesarean section
cystotomy
GDV repair
wound repair
Overnight doctors perform the majority of abdominal procedures though surgical opportunities are available across shifts depending on caseload.
This position offers significant opportunity to gain surgical experience and continue developing both medical and procedural skills.

Continuing Education and Professional Support
EVCOT supports professional development through:
payment for Oregon licensure
payment of membership dues to AVMA or VECCS
payment of membership dues to OVMA or PVMA
In addition EVCOT pays for one major conference every other year which aligns with Oregon license renewal. This includes conference registration airfare or travel and hotel accommodations. These conferences typically provide approximately 30 hours of CE credit. Additional CE support may also be available upon request.
Sign-on bonuses relocation assistance and ongoing tuition support are negotiable.

Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree required
Veterinary license in good standing or eligibility for licensure in the State of Oregon
Two years of clinical experience required or successful completion of an accredited internship
