Plant Maintenance & Reliability Lead — Print and Packaging Operations

A day in this role

You start the morning scanning preventive maintenance dashboards then walk the floor to the three production areas you champion. You check the sevencolor offset printing press and its cutting and scoring operation move on to the six flexographic presses and finish at the sealing department where seven flame sealers and computerized robotic palletizing keep orders moving. Along the way you verify the preventive maintenance scheduleincluding the knife roomstays on track.

After a standup with your 20 maintenance technicians and storeroom clerks you align on repairs modifications and new installations needed to keep inhouse production and associated equipment running safely and efficiently. You support production leaders help prioritize work and approve critical parts purchases. The afternoon may find you reviewing capital budget proposals identifying new equipment and coordinating bids and contracts with outside contractors.

Before the day closes you confirm SQF Code requirements are being administered and followed schedule annual service agreements and lock in training plans for yourself and your team. A final sweep covers building systems material handling assets and site infrastructurefrom security and fire protection systems to the computerized telephone systemso the plant is ready for tomorrow.

Purpose of the role

• Manage and coordinate maintenance and installation of production equipment material handling building system equipment and building/grounds.
• Own the preventive maintenance program for all production equipment.

What you will lead

• Maintenance of three production departments:
  • Offset converting with a sevencolor offset printing press and cutting/scoring operation.
  • Flexographic converting with six flexo printing presses.
  • Sealing with seven flame sealers and auxiliary components such as computerized robotic palletizing.
• The total preventive maintenance schedule including the knife room.
• All inhouse equipment repairs modifications and installations performed safely and productively.
• Direct support for production departments and other supervisors.
• Parts sourcing and purchasing as well as oversight of storeroom processes.
• Administration and adherence to the SQF Code.
• Daytoday leadership of maintenance and storeroom clerk personnel (typically 20 team members).
• Capital planning and budgets equipment identification and endtoend bidding/contracting with outside contractors.
• Annual service agreements and coordinated training for this role and all direct reports.
• Site systems stewardship: security fire protection and the computerized telephone system.
