Job Summary
The Opportunity
As aSoftware Developer (Platform Engineering) you will design build and support internal platforms tooling and automation that enable development teams at Ontario Teachers Pension Plan to deliver software securely reliably and at scale.
This role is suited for an experiencedsoftware developerwho enjoys improving developer workflows building shared services and applying modern cloud-native and Infrastructure as Code practices.
Youll work on impactful initiatives supporting our Investments division while helping evolve our engineering platforms and standards.
This role issoftware developmentled. While you will work closely with cloud platforms CI/CD and infrastructure the focus is onbuilding software platforms and automation not on production operations 24/7 on-call rotations or site reliability ownership.
Our Flexible Travel Program also gives you the option to work abroad for a month in another region or country the choice is yours.
Who Youll Work With
Youll be part of thePlatform Engineering Teamwithin theTechnology Services Division working in a cross-functional team that builds and supports developer platforms delivery pipelines and analytics solutions for front-office teams in the Investments division.
Youll collaborate closely with application developers platform engineers security partners and product stakeholders.
What Youll Do
Design and buildsoftware platforms and developer-facing services treating infrastructure and delivery workflows as code
Develop and maintaininternal products and shared servicesused by multiple development teams
Improve developer productivity and delivery reliability throughcode automation and well-designed APIs
Enablerepeatable scalable application deliveryacross environments using modern engineering practices
ApplyInfrastructure as Code and cloud-native patternsto support application deployment and lifecycle management
Integratesecurity quality and compliance controlsinto software delivery workflows
Partner with development teams to improvebuild test deployment and runtime experiences
Participate inarchitecture discussions code reviews and technical design
Continuously evaluate and adopt improvements todeveloper experience tooling and engineering standards
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers where appropriate
This role doesnothave primary responsibility for production incident management or site reliability ownership though you will collaborate with those teams as part of a shared delivery ecosystem.
What Youll Need
Required
Degree inComputer Science Engineering or equivalent practical experience
Minimum 5 yearsof professional software development experience
Strong experience as ahands-on software developer not solely operations-focused
Demonstrated experience designing and maintainingproduction-quality software systems with an emphasis on clean APIs testing and long-term maintainability
Proficiency inbackend development includingPython
Working knowledge ofmodern UI frameworks such asReact
Experience working withdatabases and data platforms includingSnowflake
Strong experience withGit-based version controland collaborative development workflows
The following technical experience is required:
Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
Practical experience working with Microsoft Azure in a production environment
Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
Experience deploying operating and troubleshooting applications on Kubernetes
Experience applying modern cloud-native delivery practices across environments
Hands-on experience building user interfaces with React
Hands-on experience developing and debugging Python services and/or scripts
Experience using Redis in an application (e.g. caching sessions queues)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience withGitOps-based deployment models(e.g. ArgoCD)
Experience integratingsecurity controlsinto build and deployment pipelines
Familiarity withobservability and monitoringpractices
Experience withdata analytics or data engineering workflows
Experience working inAgileor product-oriented teams
Exposure to service-oriented or event-driven architectures
Experience usingAI and data tooling in the Azure ecosystem such as:
Azure AI Foundry
Databricks
Advanced Snowflake capabilities (e.g. Snowpark ML or integrations)

What were offering
This position is eligible for base salary and annual incentive based on individual and enterprise performance. Base Salary starting at $100300 to $107200 with future opportunity of up to $116400.Numerous opportunities for professional growth and development
