Description

This position is open to RST DLMP and MCS ONLY

Oversees specimen-services quality practices to ensure specimens are collected labeled transported stored and processed correctly prior to testing. Leads pre-analytical quality assurance compliance readiness KPI monitoring and continuous improvement to reduce errors and protect result integrity.

Key responsibilities & qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of specimen collection labeling transport and storage; understanding of pre-analytical variables (e.g. hemolysis contamination timing).
  • Quality leadership: QA/QC root-cause analysis CAPA trend analysis and strong documentation (SOPs incident reports).
  • Regulatory/accreditation readiness and compliance knowledge (CLIA; CAP; New York State; The Joint Commission).
  • Monitor and improve key performance indicators (e.g. turnaround time specimen rejection rates); implement workflow optimization and error-reduction strategies.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with senior leadership and peer supervisors; familiarity with testing across Mayo Laboratories.
  • People leadership including scheduling coaching conflict resolution and performance management while reinforcing SOP adherence.
  • Continuous improvement mindset (Lean/Six Sigma familiarity preferred) and strong organizational/multitasking skills.

*Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position you must meet one of the following educational and experience qualifications:

Bachelors in CLS/MLS/MT 6 years of Clinical Laboraotry Experience

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited institution in clinical laboratory science (CLS) medical laboratory science (MLS) or medical technology (MT)
  • And six years of clinical laboratory experience after obtaining the qualified bachelors degree.

Bachelors MLS certification 6 years of Clinical Laboratory Experience

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
  • And a certificate in medical laboratory science (MLS) or another clinical laboratory specialty certificate
  • And 6 years of clinical laboratory experience afterobtaining the qualified bachelors degree.

Bachelors in Chemistry or a Biological Science 7 years of Clinical Laboratory Experience

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in chemistry or biological science
  • And seven years of clinical laboratory experience after obtaining the qualified bachelors degree

Master 2 Years of Clinical Laboratory Experience

  • Master degree from an accredited institution in chemical physical biological. clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
  • And two years of clinical laboratory experience after obtaining the qualified bachelors degrees listed above.

Bachelors 4 years of Laboratory Management Experience

  • Bachelor degree preferably in CLS/MLS/MT management/business sciences or a health-related field.
  • AND four years of laboratory management experience

In the non-testing laboratories (Laboratory Services Central Processing Microbiology Initial Processing Preparation and Processing Autotransfusion IMPACT Hematopathology Support Lab Operational Support Unit MML Operations and Donor Services) and Histopathology laboratories: Bachelors degree preferably in CLS/MLS/MT management/business sciences or a health-related field and four years of laboratory or management experience.

*DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position for less than 2 years must attached an early release approval from their supervisor.
