Visiting Full-Time Faculty Position in Spanish (20th21st Peninsular Literature and Culture)

Job Summary
The Department of Spanish at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty position for a one-year term (leave replacement) during the 2026-2027 academic year to begin in August 2026. We are seeking an instructor with experience teaching Spanish at all levels who will primarily teach language courses and one advanced seminar in 20th- and/or 21st-century Peninsular Spanish literature film and/or cultural studies. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to design and deliver dynamic collaborative and student-centered undergraduate courses taught in Spanish and on contemporary topics with broad appeal related to Spain.
The Spanish Department at Holy Cross is part of a vibrant teaching and scholarly community offering opportunities to collaborate with programs such as Latin American Latinx and Caribbean Studies Critical Race and Ethnic Studies and International Studies. Faculty also have the chance to engage with the Colleges study abroad programs in Spain and South America further enriching the academic experience.
Visiting full-time faculty teach 3 courses each semester (a 3-3 teaching load). The salary for this position is $ 70000. Visiting faculty are eligible to apply for support to present at a conference or attend a professional development program through the Provosts Supplemental Research Fund. The College will support reimbursement of relocation costs in accordance with its published policies. All full-time appointments offer competitive salaries and include full benefits.
The College will not support H-1B visa applications that require the $100000 employer fee.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching and inclusive pedagogies informed by current practice and scholarship in the field.
A Ph.D. in Spanish Hispanic Studies or a closely related field with a focus on twentieth and/or twenty-first century Spanish (Peninsular) literature and/or cultural studies. Candidates in ABD status will be considered though those with a Ph.D. in hand are preferred.
