Overview
We recognize that there are certain core competencies that every CRNA is able to demonstrate as a result of his/her education and training. They include the following:
- Administer & monitor general anesthesia or monitored sedation.
- Proficient in airway management including mechanical ventilation.
- Placement of peripheral intravenous catheters.
- Pre-anesthesia evaluation.
- Post anesthesia care/discharge.
- Evaluate laboratory & diagnostic studies.
- Proficient in pain management.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development principles from neonate to geriatrics.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span neonate through geriatrics.
- Relocation assistance available
Qualifications
Education:
Completed AANA approved course in Anesthesia. Masters degree required.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in State of Illinois.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or new graduate who is eligible for certification.
Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS certification required.
NRP certification required before completing their orientation period.
Credentialing:
Maintains current Registered Nursing license and Advanced Practice Nursing license in Illinois (Requires 50 CEUs in 2 years).
Maintains current CRNA certification. (Requires 40 CEUs in 2 years).
Completes CRNA competency validation.
Participates in FPPE/OPPE validation as required.
Completes all process paperwork for credentialing re-appointment
Completes annual self-evaluation and submits documentation for annual performance appraisal.
