• Within the scope of this master thesis you will conduct an experimental investigation of laser parameter influence on topological modifications of silicon.
• You will perform a simulation-based evaluation of the optical impact of surface deformations.
• As part of your work you will support the development of a process for the production of micro-optical components.
• Finally you will carry out optical measurement of processed optical components.

Qualifications :

• Education: Master studies in the field of Mathematics Computer Science Natural Sciences Engineering or comparable
• Experience and Knowledge:
  • fundamental physical understanding
  • background in optics and measurement technology
  • hands-on laboratory work
  • familiarity with optical simulation tools (Zemax or similar)
  • practical use of Matlab or Python
  • involvement in the calculation of optical systems
  • preferably exposure to laser material processing
• Personality and Working Practice: you are driven by clear goals take ownership of your work and stay motivated even when working independently
• Work Routine: on-site presence in both the office and the laboratory is required
• Languages: fluent in German and in English

Duration: 6 months
