About the role

Reporting to the QC Lead the QC Technician is a vital guardian of our product this role you will be a hands-on enabler of our quality function ensuring that every product we create meets the high standards our mission demands. As a trusted driver within the lab you will work independently on familiar tasks and troubleshoot challenges to keep our workflows moving. You will collaborate closely with the QC team Process Development (CDMO) and MSAT to provide the accurate timely and well-documented results that inform our most critical process decisions.

This role will own:
  • Routine QC Testing: Executing protein and DNA analytical methods (SDS-PAGE Western Blot concentration PCR) accurately and on time to drive department-level projects.
  • Documentation Excellence: Maintaining clear complete and compliant documentation ensuring all work is traceable and meets our high standards for data integrity.
  • Laboratory Readiness: Ensuring sample reagent and lab readiness so that testing can proceed without bottlenecks.
  • Quality Vigilance: Identifying communicating and escalating quality issues or atypical results promptly to the QC Lead.
  • Flexible Support: Providing manufacturing coverage (outside of regular business hours at times) and supporting R&D activities as needed to ensure collective team success.

This role will assist by:
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Supporting Process Development and MSAT with data generation and sample testing.
  • System Improvements: Proactively identifying gaps in lab processes and suggesting solution-focused fixes.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Documenting decisions and troubleshooting steps so the broader team can learn and adapt.

About you

You are a detail-oriented scientist who finds satisfaction in the precision of a perfect pipette pull and the clarity of a well-organized lab bench. You are proactive and resilient; when you spot an obstacle you dont just stop - you look for a path forward or bring in the right expertise to solve it. You thrive in the fast-paced environment of a scaling startup and are motivated by the opportunity to turn technical concepts into tangible world-changing products.

Must-haves
  • Technical Precision: Excellent pipetting accuracy and rigorous wet-lab discipline.
  • Analytical Experience: Strong hands-on execution of routine protein and DNA methods (SDS-PAGE WB concentration PCR).
  • SOP Adherence: Proven ability to follow complex procedures exactly and document work in a traceable compliant manner.
  • Biological Handling: Experience handling biological samples and maintaining strict sample traceability.
  • Communication: Ability to provide direct honest and kind feedback while working within a collaborative team.

  • Specialized Expertise: Experience with mammalian cell culture handling.

Within 1 month you will:
  • Onboard & Integrate: Complete training on QC workflows lab systems and documentation standards.
  • Establish Core Skills: Demonstrate mastery of pipetting accuracy and core routine assays (SDS-PAGE Western Blot).
  • Contribute to Throughput: Begin taking ownership of routine straightforward QC tasks to ensure consistent turnaround times and support the immediate data needs of the quality team.

Within 3 months you will:
  • Become a Dependable Driver: Reliably execute routine assays on schedule with minimal documentation corrections.
  • Expand Capabilities: Develop familiarity with molecular biology (PCR) and mammalian cell culture workflows.
  • Communicate with Candor: Identify and escalate deviations or atypical results early and effectively.

Within 6 months you will:
  • Own Your Domain: Independently manage recurring QC testing with minimal oversight significantly increasing team throughput.
  • Drive Quality Readiness: Maintain organized reagent and sample flows reducing bottlenecks for core activities.
  • Bridging Gaps: Expand your hands-on support in molecular and cell biology to strengthen the teams current capabilities.

Within 1 year you will:
  • Sustain the Engine: Act as a trusted owner of routine QC workflows enabling leadership to focus on scaling and method development.
  • Strategic Partner: Serve as a reliable cross-functional partner for CDMO and MSAT ensuring consistent data output.
  • Professional Mastery: Demonstrate functional independence and a reputation for high-standard iteration-driven excellence.

Our headquarters and production facility are located in downtown Edmonton Alberta in a renovated historic warehouse. From the exposed brick to our summer patio - its not your average lab space.
