Physical Education Teacher
Job Description:
The physical education department seeks a collaborative energetic and positive teacherto instruct students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge and skills in related physical education activities and can execute lessons in a positive environment that promotes healthy lifestyles.The ideal candidate is a qualified teacher with the following characteristics:
- Values and seeks to understand the cultural and social identities of each student in class;
- Integrates culturally responsive practices into daily teaching;
- Demonstrates leadership andeffective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders and community members;
- Utilizes instructional strategies and practices that are best practices in the field of Physical Education/Health;
- Creates and executes strong lessons considering student needs ability levels interests classroom performance and assessment results that are clear and well-organized;
- Establishes a trusting environment that fosters risk-taking;
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; for the classroom develops reasonable rules and classroom routines that promote a safe and positive classroom culture;
- Participates in professional development to enhance instruction.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in Physical Education or Kinesiology
Illinois PEL
MA/MS or MEd preferred
Experience teaching strenghth and conditioning
