Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):

Students work with the Biology Stockroom Manager and Technician to support department research and curricular labs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clean lab areas Open labs for students on approved list

Wash lab dishes Prep lab cultures

Autoclave materials for teaching labs Insect colony care

Safely dispose of lab waste using autoclave Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)

Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision Dependable and punctual

Autoclave trained Able to follow step by step instruction accurately

Experience operating Biology Lab Equipment Self starter

Physical and Environmental Factors:

This position requires crouching stooping reaching overhead grasping/handling pushing/pulling lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs. repetitive motions operating hand tools and operating equipment or machinery to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to respiratory factors and chemicals as well as rare exposure to loud noise wet or humid conditions indoors and heights or cramped quarters to perform the essential functions. Protective equipment is required for some essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
