Job Summary
Typical duties consist of but are not limited to:
Research legal data pertinent to caseload of Justice.
Read analyze and interpret lower court record(s) agency briefs and/or appellate court briefs.
Search for interpret and apply statutes court decisions and other legal authorities on points of law involved in the preparation of legal rulings.
Prepare drafts of opinions and orders.
Proofread and review circulating opinions.
Perform related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of law admission to the bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; AND
At least eight years of experience as an appellate judicial clerk OR eight years private practice experience involving significant legal research and writing responsibilities preferably in appellate courts.
Additional Qualifications/Preferences
Knowledge of the Unified Judicial System of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Knowledge of judicial procedures and rules of practice.
Knowledge of the principles methods materials and practices of legal research.
Superior communication interpersonal research analytical and writing skills.
Ability to understand and interpret constitutional provisions statutes administrative regulations and precedents.
Satisfactory criminal background check required.
