Typical duties consist of but are not limited to:

• Research legal data pertinent to caseload of Justice.

• Read analyze and interpret lower court record(s) agency briefs and/or appellate court briefs.

• Search for interpret and apply statutes court decisions and other legal authorities on points of law involved in the preparation of legal rulings.

• Prepare drafts of opinions and orders.

• Proofread and review circulating opinions.

• Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of law admission to the bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; AND

• At least eight years of experience as an appellate judicial clerk OR eight years private practice experience involving significant legal research and writing responsibilities preferably in appellate courts.

Additional Qualifications/Preferences

• Knowledge of the Unified Judicial System of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

• Knowledge of judicial procedures and rules of practice.

• Knowledge of the principles methods materials and practices of legal research.

• Superior communication interpersonal research analytical and writing skills.

• Ability to understand and interpret constitutional provisions statutes administrative regulations and precedents.

• Satisfactory criminal background check required.
