Summarized Purpose
The Exploratory Biomarkers group is seeking an enthusiastic scientist who will be involved in protein biomarker discovery and analysis with the goals of understanding disease mechanisms human target validation and drug effect evaluation by implementing ultra-sensitive affinity-based proteomic technologies (ie Simoa MSD NULISA). This scientist will also be responsible for evaluating and implementing emerging technologies/methods including assay verification in new sample matrix as well as maintaining operational readiness of laboratory equipment.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct study sample analysis using affinity based proteomic technologies (ELISA ELLA Simoa NULISA) to support projects in immunology and neurology.
- Novel assay development validation and implementation for immunology and neurology project using homebrew methodology (MSD SIMOA NULISA) including feasibility development for novel sample matrix (ie skin tape dry blood.)
- Maintain detailed records of experimental work by entering data in Benchling.
- Maintain all relevant lab equipment in good condition.
- Conduct independent data analysis and report results to the lab head in a timely manner.
Education and Experience:
BS Degree in Biochemistry Biotechnology or related disciplines with minimum 4-6 years of experience in protein biomarker immunoassay development and implementation or MS Degree with 2-4 years in above related experience
In somecasesan equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education training and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of low plex and single plex immunoassays: ie Traditional ELISA Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) Ella.
- Comprehensive understanding of Simoa technology and workflow (Hands-on experience is highly desired)
- Thorough understanding of NULISA technology (Experience in operating and data analysis preferred)
- Experience in handling biological materials (plasma serum CSF tissues etc.).
- Lab automation (liquid handling workstations plate washers).
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills; attention to detail and meticulousness are critical.
- Demonstrated strength in communication and professional presentations.
Education and Experience:
BS in Biochemistry Biotechnology or related disciplines with minimum 4-6 years of experience in protein biomarker immunoassay development and implementation or MS Degree with 2-4 years of above related experience.
Working Conditions and Environment:
Work is performed in a laboratory and/or a clinical environment with exposure to electrical office equipment.
Occasional drives to site locations occasional domestic travel.
Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.
Rare exposure to skin and lung irritants radiation toxic materials and hazardous waste.
Personal protective equipment is required such as protective eyewear garments and gloves.
Exposure to fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures on rare occasions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in an upright and /or stationary position for 6-8 hours per day.
Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast simple repeated movements of the fingers hands and wrists to operate lab equipment.
Occasional mobility needed.
Occasional crouching stooping with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.
Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.
Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.
Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups.
Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress. Ability to multi-task.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $77700.00$83000.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company team and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
