POSITION: Elective Teacher 2026-27 SY
JOB SUMMARY: Harrisburg Middle School is seeking a dynamic creative and student-centered educator to serve as an Elective Teacher for grades 78 teaching beginning Spanish and leading the student newspaper program. This position plays a vital role in fostering student engagement communication skills creativity and global awareness within a small supportive school community. The ideal candidate is passionate about building strong relationships designing engaging and relevant learning experiences and helping every student find success. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Spanish instruction while also guiding the schools newspaper program providing students with authentic opportunities to develop voice collaboration and real-world skills.
SALARY RANGE: $45359.87 to $87503.29 a year- Full time
Placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education and experience and will follow District policy GCBA.
BENEFITS: Employer-paid insurance CAP to assist with health dental and vision premiums employer-paid Basic Life and AD&D policies. Two (2) days of personal leave ten (10) days of sick leave seven (7) paid holidays and a generous PERS retirement contribution (if applicable) for a full-time position. Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week M-TH.

Qualifications:
- Valid Oregon teaching license with appropriate endorsement(s) or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Demonstrated ability to build positive supportive relationships with middle school students
- Strong classroom management and effective communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff families and the broader school community
- Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in curriculum design and instructional practices
