TITLE: Philanthropic Advisor
REPORTS TO: Director of Development & Impact Investing
STATUS: Regular Full-time Exempt
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Philanthropic Advisor works to deepen and broaden the professional advisor network across our five-county (Onondaga Madison Cayuga Oswego and Cortland) service area as well as implement the Community Foundations development program. The Philanthropic Advisor will also lead the cultivation and facilitation of nonprofit agency funds for the Community Foundation.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cultivation of Charitable Gift Planning Services
- Engage with prospective and existing donors and their advisors to create funds and deliver the Community Foundations lifetime giving services
- Work with donors on endowment fund building as well as legacy planning
- Function as a point of contact for advisors for charitable planning resources
Professional Advisor Outreach
- Create and maintain relationships with professional advisors
- Plan and coordinate annual professional advisor programs including presentations continuing education events and networking events
- Schedule appointments prepare meeting materials and coordinate follow-up actions to advance the strategic goal of growing the professional advisor referral network
Nonprofit Agency Fund Relationship Management
- Build relationship with existing and prospective nonprofits agency fundholders
- Deliver tailored presentations to nonprofit boards and leadership teams regarding agency fund options investment strategies planned giving and long-term sustainability
- Provide responsive support to existing agency fundholders onboard new agency partners and lead the annual agency fund grant notification and disbursement process
General Development Support & Administrative Coordination
- Assist the Director of Development & Impact Investing with development projects initiatives and strategic goals
- Participate in internal meetings as requested and provide regular updates on development activities
- Maintain accurate and timely information within the CSuite constituent database
- Collaborate closely with philanthropic services team finance grants and communications teams to support seamless donor professional advisor and agency fund operations
- Perform other duties as assigned to further the Community Foundations mission
- Some work outside traditional office hours is required for meetings and events
PREFERRED QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Deep interest in and commitment to the Central New York area its people and their concerns.

- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a related field is required; experience could include areas like non-profit organizations charitable giving customer service professional advisor client services financial management grantmaking project management and/or sales development
- An ongoing commitment to training in both areas of soft skills and technical skills to maintain and improve current skills and knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Customer service and listening skills follow-through and problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal organizational time-management communication networking and development skills with diverse constituent groups with a demonstrated attitude toward inclusiveness
- Computer proficiency including knowledge of Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn all appropriate Community Foundation software
- Superior attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate several activities at one time
TIME REQUIREMENT: This is a full-time exempt position requiring 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility. Tuesdays through Thursdays are designated in-office days. Staff that choose to work a hybrid work schedule may choose to do so on Mondays and/or Fridays dependent on management approval. Occasionally early late or weekend hours are required for development related internal and external events.
SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range is $70000 - $80000 for this officer level position within the Community Foundation.
