A leading private hospital is looking for dedicated Hospital Porters to join our patient services team. Porters play a vital role in the smooth operation of the hospital by transporting patients between wards theatres radiology departments and other clinical areas. You will also assist with moving equipment specimens and supplies throughout the hospital. This is a physically active role that requires compassion discretion and the ability to interact with patients who may be anxious in pain or recovering from surgery. Responsibilities Transport patients safely by wheelchair stretcher or bed between hospital departments including wards theatres ICU and radiology Collect and deliver medical equipment specimens blood products and pharmaceutical supplies as directed Assist nursing staff with lifting transferring and positioning patients when required Respond promptly to porter requests from the central dispatch system or ward nurses Ensure patient comfort and dignity during transport maintaining a calm and reassuring manner Deliver and collect linen meal trolleys and waste from wards and departments Assist with the transfer of deceased patients to the mortuary with appropriate respect and protocol Maintain cleanliness of transport equipment including wheelchairs stretchers and trolleys Follow infection control procedures including hand hygiene wearing PPE and cleaning equipment between patients Participate in emergency response drills and know the hospital evacuation procedures
Requirements Physical fitness to push wheelchairs stretchers and heavy equipment throughout the hospital Compassionate nature and ability to interact sensitively with patients and their families Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency or stressful situations Reliable and punctual hospital operations are time-critical Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions from clinical staff
