Job Summary
Our client is seeking a motivated and hardworking Junior Turner Machinist to join our engineering/workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in precision machining and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate conventional lathe machines and turning equipment under supervision
- Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and measurements
- Manufacture repair and machine components to required tolerances
- Assist senior machinists with setup and production tasks
- Use measuring tools such as verniers micrometers and gauges
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and follow safety procedures
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report faults
- Ensure quality standards are met on all finished parts
Personal Attributes:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Technical qualification in machining fitting & turning or related trade (advantageous)
- Basic experience working with lathes or in a machine shop environment
- Ability to read measuring instruments accurately
- Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and grow in the trade
- Reliable punctual and hardworking
