Role Overview

The primary purpose of the Golf Course Irrigation Attendant is to manage the operation and maintenance of the golf courses irrigation systems. The scope of this role includes ensuring that all areas of the golf course receive the precise amount of water required to maintain optimal turf health and appearance. This involves monitoring weather conditions adjusting irrigation schedules performing system checks and conducting repairs to the irrigation infrastructure. The role is vital in maintaining the visual appeal and playability of the golf course.

The Golf Course Irrigation Attendant is responsible for ensuring the health of all areas of the golf course by managing and maintaining its sophisticated irrigation systems. This role involves the careful monitoring adjustment and repair of irrigation systems to ensure optimal water distribution across the course. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in irrigation management or related field is preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in irrigation system management preferably in a golf course or similar environment.
• Proficiency in operating computerised irrigation control systems; strong understanding of turf management and water conservation practices; basic plumbing and electrical repair skills.
• Technical Expertise - Deep knowledge of irrigation systems including their operation maintenance and repair. Ability to use technology to monitor and adjust systems efficiently.
• Attention to Detail - Precision in monitoring and adjusting irrigation schedules to ensure optimal water distribution and turf health.
• Problem-Solving - Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues with the irrigation system to maintain course quality.
• Communication Skills - Clear and effective communication with team members and management regarding irrigation needs and challenges.
• Safety and Environmental Awareness - Strong commitment to safety protocols and environmentally responsible water management practices.

Responsibilities

Irrigation System Operation:

• Operate and adjust the golf courses computerised irrigation control systems ensuring consistent and appropriate water distribution across all course areas.
• Monitor weather conditions soil moisture levels and turf health to adjust irrigation schedules accordingly.
• Program irrigation systems to accommodate seasonal variations special events and maintenance activities.

Maintenance and Repairs:

• Perform regular inspections of the irrigation system including pumps valves sprinklers and piping to identify and address any issues.
• Conduct routine maintenance such as cleaning filters adjusting sprinkler heads and repairing leaks or malfunctions.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure that irrigation repairs are carried out efficiently and with minimal disruption to course play.

Water Management:

• Implement water conservation practices and strategies to reduce waste and ensure efficient use of water resources.
• Maintain accurate records of water usage system performance and any adjustments made to irrigation schedules.

Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving:

• Identify and diagnose issues within the irrigation system such as pressure problems electrical faults or equipment failures.
• Utilise technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly ensuring minimal impact on the courses condition.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with the (HGCS) and the Assistant to coordinate irrigation activities with other maintenance tasks.
• Provide input and feedback on irrigation needs and improvements to the Agronomy Team.
• Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure a clear understanding of irrigation schedules and priorities.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations when handling irrigation equipment and chemicals.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to water usage and chemical applications.
