Open Source Developer (Java GIS Cloud)
Namur Belgium (Hybrid)

About the Role
We are looking for a passionate Open Source Developer to design and build innovative applications where mapping geolocation and computing come together.
You will work in a collaborative team of analysts architects and developers contributing to the development of high-performance user-centric solutions and helping shape the future of geospatial platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop scalable applications using Java Spring Boot and modern JavaScript frameworks
- Contribute to software architecture design and evolution
- Ensure code quality testing and performance optimization
- Participate in all phases of development:
- Design
- Development
- Integration
- Optimization
- Solve complex technical challenges and stay updated on emerging technologies
Tech Stack
- Backend: Java Spring Boot
- Frontend: React (or similar) HTML5 CSS3
- GIS & Mapping: OpenLayers Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Databases: Relational & NoSQL (JPA Hibernate)
- Cloud: AWS GCP Azure
- Other: Linux Docker NGINX/HTTPD Microservices REST APIs
Required Skills & Experience
Core Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or related field
- 35 years of experience in software development
- Strong proficiency in Java
- Experience with at least one modern front-end framework (React preferred)
- Experience or interest in GIS / geospatial technologies
Additional Skills
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS Azure or GCP)
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and APIs
