About the Role
As part of its 2026 digital roadmap STIB is launching an ambitious data transformation program to modernize its data platform and strengthen data-driven decision making.
Key initiatives include:
- Migrating non-SAP data to Microsoft Azure
- Implementing strategic data use cases delivering business value
- Building a self-service reporting strategy for teams across the organization
To support these initiatives we are looking for a Medior Azure Data Engineer to join the Data & Analytics team and contribute to building a scalable reliable and modern data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop and maintain scalable data pipelines on the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Build modern data architectures such as Data Lake Delta Lake and Lakehouse.
- Implement automated processes for data ingestion transformation and delivery.
- Work closely with Data Analysts Data Scientists and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Document data models data flows and best practices.
- Support the implementation of self-service reporting solutions using Power BI and Databricks.
- Maintain and optimize the Microsoft Azure data platform.
- Ensure performance scalability reliability and security of data systems.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure services including:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Databricks
- Azure SQL
- Azure Storage
- Key Vault
- Azure DevOps
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (Spark PySpark Databricks)
- Strong programming skills in SQL Python and/or Scala
- Knowledge of CI/CD principles for data engineering
- Experience with Power BI administration and governance
- Experience with real-time data streaming
- Knowledge of application integration patterns (REST API AMQP)
- Ability to apply data engineering best practices
Profile
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Data Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar data engineering role
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Nice to Have
- Microsoft Azure Certification (e.g. DP-203)
- Databricks Certification (e.g. Databricks Data Engineer Associate)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor or Log Analytics
- Basic SAP knowledge (S/4HANA as a data source)
- Experience with Azure architecture solution design and cloud governance
Languages
- French or Dutch: Native / Bilingual proficiency
- Second language (French or Dutch): Good level
- English: Professional working proficiency
