The NC Department of Administration is the business manager for North Carolina state government. The department oversees Government Operations such as building construction purchasing and contracting for goods and services maintaining facilities managing state vehicles acquiring and disposing of real property and operating auxiliary services such as courier mail delivery and the sale of state and federal surplus property. Additionally the department manages many of the states advocacy programs that provide assistance and services to diverse segments of the states population that have been traditionally underserved.
Description of Work
This position reports to the Garage Manager and also receives assignments from the lot supervisor. This individual is responsible for providing carwash services and support for the processing assignment and surplus of state-owned vehicles which involves processing of new and old vehicles for assignment.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain MFM Tow Trucks ensure all fluids and equipment is in proper operational order.
- Taking vehicles to vendors for service
- Be able to travel statewide on a daily basis
- Able to stay overnight occasionally
- Work closely with Assistant Fleet Manager on a day-by-day basis
- Work with Fleet Manager and Garage Manager when needed
- When not towing vehicles assist with changing tires oil changes replacing batteries Jump starting vehicles and moving vehicles to vendors if needed
Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies
- Ability to operate a rollback wrecker vehicle and the ability to perform vehicle retrieval within the state and occasional out-of-state trips.
- Ability to use GPS Trip Planner and ability to read and interpret road maps.
- Familiar Microsoft and outlook experience
- Ability to perform mechanical tasks such as changing oil replacing tires charging and/ or replacing batteries and jump-starting vehicles
- Customer service skills.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE:
- Management prefers 3 years of rollback and recovery experience as well as experience in operating a towing or hauling vehicle and performing automotive mechanical work.
- Ability to follow both oral and written directions.
Other Requirements:
Valid NC Drivers License with acceptable driving record. Out of State Applicants must have valid Drivers License or acquire NC Drivers License within 60 days of hire. Candidate must present proof of a valid NC Drivers License and proof of an acceptable driving record.
Minimum Education and Experience
